Why "ensemble" in our name? E-mail
Let's start with a definition of "ensemble" from the Merriam-Webster and Random House Unabridged Dictionaries:

Noun: all the parts of a thing taken together, so that each part is considered only in relation to the whole; or, a group producing a single effect, as in a musical group.

Adjective: emphasizing the roles of all performers as a whole rather than a star performance.

Synonyms:  totality, entirety, aggregate.

Etymology: French, from ensemble together, from Old French, from Latin insimul at the same time, from in- + simul at the same time

At EMC, we believe that when all parts of an organization or a team are working in harmony, as in a musical ensemble, then beautiful music is produced and people perform their roles with a mind to the success of all.  Although the word "ensemble" may be more associated with music in most people's minds, we use the word as a metaphor for the coordinated action and great results demonstrated by high performing teams.
